The sculptural nature of all aspects of our surrounding environment is what moves me as a designer. The exploration of this through the movement of metal and fluidity of form keeps me intrigued and compels me to continue moving forward. My aim as a Silversmith is to create functional sculpture, to intrigue the user and to enhance their visual and physical interaction with objects.
To me form and function go hand in hand, one should not over ride the other, they should be in harmony rather than conflict. The form is the body of the functional object. Through my designs the function of an object informs the visual appearance, however form should not be forsaken in place of function. The form of the object must entice the observer to want to use it.
